  Haiti has a very interesting history. There were a million Arawaks when the Europeans arrived. The Arawaks were the first tribe in Haiti. Before 1492, there were more than a million  Arawaks who lived on the island. They were almost all killed by 1600.  Gaining Independence for Haiti was not easy, it took a lot of work. In 1804, Haiti got independence from France. This means that Haiti was the 1st free country led by African black people. Today, Haiti is a country with challenges. Some of this is because  Haiti had to pay a  big payment of 150 million francs to France and some more money to America. Haiti was the first country in the world to make slavery illegal. Haiti has a very interesting history.

                   Colombia is a country in South America. It has mountains, rivers and beaches.  “The Magdalena River system of the northern Andes has a length of 1,612 kilometers.”  (Britannica School).  Bogota is the capital of Colombia.   The types of food eaten are: bandeja paisa, ajiaco and lechona. The Bandeja paisa includes beans, white rice, pork rinds, powdered meat, chorizo, fried egg, ripe plantain, avocado. Ajaco contains chicken, three types of potatoes (criolla, sabanera and pastusa), corn on the cob, guascas, onion, garlic, cilantro and, to serve, cream, capers and avocado. Lechona contains whole roasted pork stuffed with rice, peas, onion, and spices, and is served with arepas.   In the Dominican Republic, it is  very hot on the beach. Lago  Enriquillo             Lake  is the largest lake in the Dominican republic. ’’Fields and farms occupy large parts of the land in the Dominican Republic.’’(Encyclopaedia Britannica) In the Dominican Republic, people really like to play baseball. Baseball is a game widely played among men because they play it a lot. It is a game that men play to earn money I like the Dominican Republic for its great beaches, good food, and good people.

      Haiti is a beautiful country in the Caribbean Sea. The people of Haiti speak Creole, which is a mix of African language and French, and some people also speak just French. The food in Haiti is very good. We eat: rice, fish, chicken, pork, goat, banana, avocado, eggs and mango. The coffee in Haiti is very good.  The music in Haiti is the best! Some musicians in Haiti are:  Bedjine, Kadilac, Niskadine and Fatima. The people in Haiti are nice and we love to go to the beach, dance, sing, eat,and play volleyball and soccer.

  Haiti is an island in North America. Haiti is a country in the Caribbean . Haiti was the first Black led country that was independent and French speaking. Haiti is a very poor country because French and Americans take  money from Haiti. Most people in Haiti are very poor. Haitian Creole is the main language of Haiti.

                    The Dominican Republic is a beautiful country on the island with Haiti. People in the Dominican Republic love baseball and merengue. The Dominican Republic has the best beaches. Santo Domingo is the largest city. Santo Domingo is one of the oldest cities. In the Dominican Republic, some types of popular music are: merengue, salsa, blero and African folk music. What l love about Dominican Republic: the food, beaches, and music.

  Haiti is an island in North America in the Caribbean.  Port-au-Prince is the capital of Haiti. The language in Haiti is a blend of African, French and Taino. Haiti is the first all Black county to get independence. In 1749 the French came to Port-au-Prince. Haiti is one of the poorest countries, so why should France or the United States squeeze its money?  There are many bandits in Haiti. Haitian food is very rich. Haitians in Haiti play soccer.

     The Dominican Republic is a beautiful country in the Caribbean. DR is in the Caribbean on the East part of the island with Haiti. At one time France controlled DR, and it was part of Spain until independence in 1844. The Dominican Republic is an island with beautiful beaches and  mountains in the middle. In DR some types of popular music are; Merengue, Salsa, Bolero, Denbow  and African folk music. Some popular foods are: rice with chicken and ripe plantain, Sancocho and mangu with salami, avocado, and egg.   What I love about the Dominican Republic is the food, people, and the weather.
